Logan County Schools Assistant SuperintendentReports To: SuperintendentSupervises: District and School Administrative, Certified, and Classified Staff as assignedBasic FunctionThe Assistant Superintendent assists the Superintendent in providing leadership for the daily operations of the school district and in achieving the strategic goals of the district and its schools. Under the general direction of the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent provides leadership in:Development and oversight of district finances and facilitiesInstructional support and supervisionBudget development and managementInvestment oversightAssist with leadership and professional development planningPersonnel and human resourcesThe position includes support of principals and directors, oversight of contracts, and other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.Representative DutiesServe as a member of the district administrative teamAdhere to the Professional Code of Ethics and demonstrate punctuality and regular attendanceAssist the Superintendent and staff in analyzing financial and educational issues and developing solutions to improve district operationsAssist in developing salary structures and related policiesConfer with the Superintendent regarding selection, assignment, and transfer of staff and administratorsRecommend changes in policy or administrative procedures as neededAttend Board of Education meetings & prepare reports or recommendations as requestedMaintain effective district and community relationsConduct reviews related to position classification, organizational structure, workflow, and overall effectivenessAssist with school business operationsMaintain district legal opinionsStay informed of current trends and best practices in school business servicesAttend regional, state, and national professional meetingsAttend meetings and events on behalf of the SuperintendentServe as lead administrator in the absence of the Superintendent, including presiding over Board and committee meetingsOther duties as assigned by the superintendent Knowledge and AbilitiesKnowledge of:Current state and federal laws and policiesDevelopment, interpretation, and implementation of district policies & proceduresPersonnel file managementBoard of Education policies and proceduresEffective interpersonal skills, including tact, patience, and courtesy Ability to:Manage professional-level staff performing complex activitiesEnsure compliance with federal laws, Kentucky statutes, Kentucky Board of Education regulations, and district policiesPrepare and deliver effective oral and written presentationsMaintain current knowledge of technological advancementsPrioritize and schedule work effectivelyTrain, supervise, and evaluate personnelHandle confidential matters with discretion EvaluationAnnual development of a Professional Growth PlanAnnual performance evaluation conducted by the Superintendent Education, Experience, and Other RequirementsProfessional Certificate for Instructional Leadership - School SuperintendentMinimum of five (5) years of experience in educational administration at the school or district level
