DIRECTOR OF ACCOUNTINGJob DescriptionDEPARTMENT: Accounting DATE: March 2024REPORTS TO: Controller FLSA: ExemptPRIMARY PURPOSE: Direct the management and operation of day-to-day activities in the accounting department. Responsibilities include detailed review of journal entries, account reconciliations and financial reporting. Supervisory oversight of external audit, JSOX compliance and adherence to internal approval matrices. Provide management with timely and accurate financial information for effective external reporting. Maintain and ensure accuracy and integrity of Glovia ERP computer application system for compilation of consolidations and tax filings.Essential FunctionsManage day-to-day operations of the Accounting department and implementation process improvements.Oversee all accounting tables in Glovia system to insure accuracy in financial integration modules, calculations and reporting capabilities. Supervise the month-end close process by conducting a detailed review of journal entries, account reconciliations and analyses ensuring monthly reporting requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner.Perform a detailed review of monthly sales, costing and accounting transactions required for timely completion of month-end closing cycle. Prepare and analyze monthly consolidated financial performance.Maintain standard cost systems and inventory controls inclusive of periodic physical inventories.Develop accounting reports from Glovia and financial reports using SQL and Excel software tools.Supervise the preparation and tie out of consolidated balance sheets, income statements, statement of equity, statement of cash flows and supporting schedules.Prepare and update quarterly and annual financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP and as instructed by JVCKenwood Corporation policy.Coordinate preparation and compilation of paperwork supporting financial quarterly reviews and annual audits conducted by outside CPA firms.Ensure all financial information is accurate and reported on a timely basis, along with maintaining all regulatory reporting and compliance requirements.Supervisory oversight ensuring adherence to and maintenance of JSOX narratives and approval matrix. Essential Functions ContinuedOversight and trouble shooting of the Accounts Payable function and disbursement cycle.Coordinate preparation and compilation of paperwork supporting monthly sales tax remittance and scheduled audits.Coordinate preparation and compilation of paperwork supporting property tax valuation and remittance of taxes.Coordinate preparation and compilation of paperwork supporting the consolidated Federal and State income tax reporting in accordance regulations and Accounting for Income Taxes under FAS 109 and FIN 48. Supports CEO with special projects.Crosstrain and mentor staff in all areas of finance. Assign staff coverage for other functions as needed.Exhibit desirable and appropriate professional behavior including leadership, sense of urgency, independent judgement, teamwork, ability to get along with others, creative thinking and personal integrity to provide for a cohesive, productive unit dedicated to the achievement of corporate goals.Required Education And ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.Certified Public Accountant with public accounting experience preferred.Must be proficient with ERP computer applications and MS Office products.Working knowledge of GAAP.Minimum of ten years related accounting experience.Minimum of three years supervisory experience in accounting.Minimum of four years preparing GAAP consolidations and financial reports.Experience in the preparation, extraction and analysis of ERP computer systems data.Experience in maintaining and analyzing general ledger accounts.CompetenciesHands-on, detailed oriented and disciplined management skills required.
