Our mission-driven team is seeking a bold and dynamic Ground Systems Engineer who is fueled by high accountability, execution horsepower, and driven to understand our world, science/technology, and life itself, for the benefit of all on Earth and beyond.Position SummarySince Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Ground Systems Engineer. This role contributes to the design, development, testing, and verification of Axiom’s Ground Systems, including the Mission Control Center and Mission/Sim networks. The engineer will work closely with cross‑disciplinary teams, Axiom personnel, and NASA to define requirements, develop network architectures, configure hardware, and build analytics, software tools, operational processes, and console products that enable Mission Control operations in Low Earth Orbit. In addition, the role supports Axiom’s Private Astronaut Mission (PAM) flights to the International Space Station. This role will be onsite at our Space Station Development Facility (SSDF) in Webster, TX.Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesSupport with the design and development of the Axiom Ground Systems needed to support on-orbit operations, simulations, and network connections to external partners.Support the development, testing, and verification of Axiom Mission Control Centers along with the Ground Segment as a fully integrated system in support of Axiom Segment operations, which includes voice communications, video communications, commanding & telemetry, cyber security, and file transfers.Support the creation of multiple communication pathways to the Axiom Station, including access through MCC-H assets, and an independent path through commercial satellite networks.Support ground systems and be able to learn and configure supporting systems: voice system, video system, command and telemetry databases, network, and partner integration rack.Aid in the development of Axiom Simulator Systems, including a simulated ground systems network that reflects the expected configuration to support missions.Support the integration of Axiom Simulator Systems with other ISS partners, including NASA and SpaceX, to perform and support joint simulations with the ISS and SpaceX Flight Control Team.Consult and collaborate on integrated operations solutions that satisfy mission requirements across functional teams within the organization.Support as a Ground Controller or related flight control discipline to plan, train, and fly real-time Axiom Station missions as part of the operations team at Axiom Space.Develop Ground Systems operations concept, processes, procedures, tools, console support products, group documentation, training, certification, and on-orbit procedures.Collaborate on applicable Axiom Station integration products, including test plans, regulatory documentation, system architecture, and design solutions as related to operations, ground systems, interface definitions, mission timelines, and procedures.Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership.Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle.Perform additional job duties as assigned.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
