This role is ideal for a lawyer with3–5 years of experiencewho wants to move beyond a narrow role and further develop expertisein estate planning while working directly with clients and partners.
We are particularly interested in candidates whoenjoy solving practical problems for clients and are eager to take ownership of matters early in their careers.Associates at DPL manage substantive work, communicate directly with clients, and develop professional judgment with support from experienced partners.
For attorneys coming from larger firms, this position offers the opportunity totransition from a supporting role on large matters to owning meaningful client work, developing judgment as an attorney, and building a long-term professional practice.
Responsibilities
Manage an independent caseload with partner support as needed
Draft wills, trusts, and related estate planning documents
Assistwith probate,estate, and trustadministration matters
Conduct legal research and draft memoranda and correspondence
Communicate directly with clients andprovidepractical legal guidance
Collaborate with partners and staff on strategy and case management
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school
Admission to the New York State Barand/or Connecticut
3–5 years of experience in trusts and estates or a related practice area (real estate, tax, or transactional work helpful)
Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
Comfortable taking ownership of matters and working independently
Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills
Interest in developing a long-term practice in trusts and estates
