What You’ll Do: Inform and educate clients of the WIC program, policies, procedures, and objectives Educate clients on usage of WIC benefits Complete assessments to determine eligibility for the program, including factors of income, nutrition needs, and client category. Complete certification per federal and state guidelines Perform pointofcare hemoglobin testing and anthropometric measurements to evaluate health and determine risk status. Interpret results per federal and state guidelines Assess client nutrition needs and provide referrals to the Dietitian for highrisk or specialneed participants Make referrals for social services to internal and external agencies as needed Utilize knowledge of the nutritional needs of infants, children, prenatal and postpartum women, along with assessment information, to provide participantcentered recommendations and counseling on nutrition. Engage the participant to set goals to improve health outcomes. Consider the client’s interests, concerns, and the effectiveness of previous sessions Utilize knowledge of basic evidencebased breastfeeding techniques to educate clients on the benefits and basics of normal breastfeeding Assign and issue the WIC food package most appropriate to the participant’s category, risk, and personal preferences per federal and state guidelines Complete client charts and update participant information per state and Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic (YVFWC) policies Document nutrition assessment data, health history, diet assessment, care plans, and nutrition education provided Provide clientcentered customer service and manage clinic flow, including answering phone calls and scheduling appointments Maintain awareness of community demographics, resources, and needs. Perform outreach activities as assigned Perform quality assurance procedures, including conducting inventory checks, peer chart reviews, and quality control checks on pointofcare machines Perform other duties as assigned Perform clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements Qualifications High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) One year of customer service experience An Associate's degree may replace experience Reception experience preferred Nutrition education training or experience preferred Experience working with children and infants preferred WIC Certification required once training period is completed Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate at level 9 Effective verbal, written and listening communication skills Ability to prioritize work and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously, with frequent interruptions Ability to effectively interact with women, caregivers, infants, children and staff in a professional manner General knowledge in culturally appropriate practice Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records Knowledge about basic nutrition concepts desired Our Mission Statement “Together we transform our communities through compassionate, individualized care, eliminating barriers to health and well-being.” Our mission celebrates inclusivity.
