Construction Superintendent

Job Title: Construction SuperintendentJob DescriptionA construction organization is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to support an upcoming heavy civil and horizontal construction project in the Philadelphia area. This is a contract-based assignment with an initial duration of 10-12 weeks, starting in mid-July. There is potential for the assignment to extend, as well as opportunities to support additional traveling projects following successful completion. The ideal candidate will possess strong field leadership experience across heavy highway, bridge construction, asphalt paving, concrete, and horizontal construction. The candidate should be comfortable managing active jobsites with multiple crews and subcontractors.ResponsibilitiesLead and manage day-to-day field operations, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with plans and specifications.Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, trades, and field crews across heavy civil scopes including earthwork, paving, concrete, and bridge-related activities.Maintain project schedule and proactively address field issues impacting safety, quality, cost, or timeline.Enforce jobsite safety standards, conduct daily safety meetings and toolbox talks, and ensure compliance with OSHA and project-specific requirements.Coordinate with project management, inspectors, and owner/agency representatives on site logistics, inspections, and sequencing.Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and work plans to ensure proper installation and execution.Complete accurate daily field reports, tracking manpower, equipment, production, and work performed.Support quality control efforts to ensure all work meets contract documents and industry standards.Essential SkillsExperience in construction management, specifically in heavy highway, bridge construction, asphalt paving, concrete, and horizontal construction.Proficiency in subcontractor management and project scheduling.Strong supervision skills and ability to manage multiple crews.OSHA 30 certification.Additional Skills & Qualifications* Experience with commercial construction and general contracting.* Ability to effectively communicate with project management, inspectors, and owner/agency representatives.Work EnvironmentThe position requires the candidate to be onsite every day. The candidate will be part of a growing company that is expanding its Construction Manager/General Contractor (CMGC) side of the business.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Philadelphia, PA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $70.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
