Role Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Controller. In this position, you will play a pivotal role in managing various aspects of the accounting function. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a professional with proven accounting expertise to advance to the Controller position and contribute to our company’s success.
As a Controller, you will be responsible for managing financial statements, analyzing financial data and assisting with the preparation of financial reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering accurate and timely financial information. You will also assist in financial planning and budgeting, maintain accounting controls, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
This is an on-site, full-time role located in the Greater Phoenix Area.
Responsibilities
Manage AR, AP and staff payroll
Provide support during the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Lead the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries and reconciliations
Take ownership of the balance sheet and assist in income statement review, including supporting schedules and ensure accuracy
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate financial results
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring proper classification of transactions
Investigate and resolve discrepancies and irregularities
Contribute to the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasts
Prepare comprehensive reports to support management decision-making
Assist in the coordination of external audits/tax returns, providing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries
Prepare journal entries and roll-forward schedules having a critical mindset of “why” to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Assist in reviewing financial statements and performing fluctuation analyses of the balance sheet and income statements
Maintenance of fixed assets in our financial system
Streamline processes and create a strong control environment
Review month-end sales tax in a 3rd party system for approval
Perform additional ad hoc duties as assigned
Qualifications
Strong analytical skills, particularly with financial data
Experience in financial reporting and financial statements
Knowledge of finance and accounting principles
Ability to create and maintain business controls
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Excel
Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
CPA and/or CMA certification is required
Experience as a Senior Accountant or similar role, with a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience, including managing employees
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
