Position Title: Medical Lab Scientist IIWork Location: 1501 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL 32534Assignment Duration: 3+ months Work Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off (Wednesday-Tuesday), 6:45 PM - 7:15 AMRequired Vaccinations: Hepatitis B, TB (RTB), MMR, Tdap (RT-DAP), Flu, and Varicella.Position Summary: The Medical Lab Scientist II is responsible for performing routine and complex laboratory testing in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), regulatory requirements, and quality standards. This role focuses on ensuring specimen integrity, accurate test results, and supporting patient care within a Blood Bank environment.Job Duties / Responsibilities:Determine specimen acceptability for testing based on established criteria.Perform routine and complex laboratory procedures in accordance with departmental SOPs.Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure optimal performance.Make technical decisions related to testing, analysis, and problem-solving.Prepare, test, and evaluate reagents, controls, and calibration materials.Accurately report test results promptly to support quality patient care.Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.Monitor and replenish laboratory supplies as needed.Assist with specimen processing when required.Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to PPE and safety protocols.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field (or meet local regulatory requirements such as CLIA/state guidelines).2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.State Medical Technologist license (if required).ASCP or AMT certification is requiredCore Lab - Generalist with experience in Coagulation, Hematology, and Urinalysis (UA).Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Proficiency with computers; experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is a plus.Strong attention to detail with excellent communication and organizational skills.Ability to pass a standardized color vision screening.Minimum Qualification Requirements (CLIA Standards for Testing Personnel)Candidates must meet at least one of the following:Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory ScienceORBachelor's degree in a Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science from an accredited institution with at least 1 year of relevant laboratory training or experience in the specialty area (equivalent to Medical Technology training)ORMinimum of 90 semester hours from an accredited institution, including: 16 semester hours of Biology16 semester hours of Chemistry (including at least 6 hours of inorganic chemistry)3 semester hours of MathAND completion of an accredited Clinical Laboratory training program or 1 year of documented clinical lab training/experience in the relevant specialtyORAssociate's degree in Medical Technology Position is offered by a no fee agency.
