Job Title: Electrical EstimatorLocation: Houston, TXCompany: Kilgore IndustriesDepartment: Preconstruction / EstimatingReports To: Chief Estimator / Preconstruction ManagerPosition SummaryKilgore Industries is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to support our growing commercial and industrial operations in the Houston market. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive electrical estimates for negotiated and hard-bid projects, while supporting preconstruction, operations, and business development teams. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset aligned with Kilgore's commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed electrical estimates for commercial, industrial, healthcare, aviation, and institutional projectsReview drawings, specifications, addenda, and contract requirements to determine project scopePerform quantity takeoffs for conduit, wire, devices, panels, lighting, gear, and related electrical systemsSolicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing to ensure scope coverage and competitivenessDevelop labor, material, equipment, and overhead costs using historical data and industry benchmarksIdentify risk, value engineering opportunities, alternates, and cost-saving strategies during preconstructionCollaborate with project management, engineering, and operations teams to align estimates with execution plansParticipate in bid reviews, turnover meetings, and preconstruction handoffsSupport change-order pricing and conceptual budgeting as neededMaintain organized estimate files, takeoffs, and bid documentationComply with company estimating standards, safety policies, and quality procedures Required Qualifications3-7+ years of experience as an Electrical Estimator in commercial or industrial constructionStrong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, means and methods, and construction sequencingProficiency in estimating and takeoff software (Accubid)Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsSolid understanding of labor productivity, material pricing, and market conditionsStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple bids simultaneously and meet deadlines Preferred QualificationsExperience estimating large-scale electrical projects ($5M+ electrical scope)Familiarity with negotiated work, design-assist, and preconstruction servicesKnowledge of Texas and Houston-area construction marketsElectrical field experience or apprenticeship background is a plus What Kilgore Industries OffersCompetitive compensation and performance-based incentivesComprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO)Career growth within a well-established Texas-based MEP contractorCollaborative team environment focused on results, accountability, and continuous improvementCommitment to safety, integrity, and long-term client relationships
