This role is ideal for someone who takes ownership of their work, applies sound professional judgment, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve processes and reporting quality. Experience with external audits and life & annuity insurance companies is a strong plus.What You’ll DoStatutory Reporting & Close ActivitiesPrepare and record journal entries as part of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closeAssist with the preparation of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements in accordance with NAIC SAPMaintain clear, organized support for reported balances and disclosuresReconciliations & Data IntegrityPerform reconciliations between general ledger balances and underlying source dataEnsure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial information across reporting periodsDisclosures & DocumentationAlign disclosures and supporting documentation across multiple legal entitiesEnsure documentation meets internal standards and external reporting requirementsProcess Improvement & CollaborationIdentify opportunities to reduce manual processes and enhance existing reporting workflowsCollaborate closely with members of the finance team to support compliance and reporting objectivesAudit & Ad Hoc SupportSupport external audits by preparing requested schedules, documentation, and explanationsTake on additional responsibilities as needed to support the broader financial reporting functionCore CompetenciesStatutory Financial Reporting (NAIC SAP): Working knowledge of statutory accounting principles and experience supporting quarterly and annual statutory financial statements Close & Journal Entry Management: Hands-on experience preparing and recording journal entries as part of monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles Reconciliations & Data Accuracy: Strong ability to reconcile general ledger balances to source data and identify variances or data issues Disclosure & Documentation Alignment: Experience maintaining organized support and ensuring consistency of disclosures and reporting documentation across entities Audit Support: Proven ability to partner with internal and external auditors by preparing schedules, documentation, and clear explanations Process Improvement Mindset: Proactive in identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort, streamline reporting processes, and improve controls Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical approach with the ability to exercise professional judgment and resolve reporting issues independently Advanced Excel Capabilities: High level of proficiency using Excel to support reconciliations, analysis, and financial reporting Collaboration & Communication: Clear communicator who works effectively with cross‑functional finance partners under deadline‑driven environmentsWhat You BringBachelor's Degree in AccountingStrong attention to detail, even under tight reporting deadlinesOwnership mindset with a continuous improvement orientationWell‑developed analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skillsAdvanced proficiency in ExcelClear and effective written and verbal communication skills2+ years of relevant professional experienceExperience preparing financial statements and supporting financial reporting processesWorking knowledge of NAIC Statutory Accounting Practices (SAP)What We OfferA collaborative, inclusive environment that values authenticity, accountability, and partnershipThe opportunity to join the company at an exciting stage of growth, where colleagues are empowered to build what’s nextA variable compensation package with a base range of $90K-$110KA competitive benefits package including comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage; an HSA and 401(k) company match; paid time off; and employer-paid life and disability insuranceHybrid work arrangement with 3 days a week in officeAt Prosperity, we are committed to equal employment opportunity and encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
