The Director will lead maintenance, custodial, grounds, and administrative teams while partnering closely with campus stakeholders, vendors, students, and families to ensure housing facilities are safe, functional, and student-centered.The Director will also play an important role in long-range planning, preventative maintenance strategy, summer turnover operations, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance both operational effectiveness and the resident experience.How you will spend your timeFacilities Management (60%)Lead strategic and day-to-day facilities operations for Islander HousingDevelop and maintain preventative, deferred, and corrective maintenance programs and proceduresOversee unit turnover and refresh processes to support successful student move-insManage vendor relationships and contracts related to facilities services, including landscaping, elevators, pest control, fire systems, pools, and summer turn supportCoordinate building maintenance projects, renovations, and construction progress from planning through occupancyServe as the primary facilities contact for Housing Operations, responding to student and parent concerns with professionalism and customer-focused problem solvingProvide leadership updates related to work orders, maintenance operations, and facilities projectsSupport long-range facilities planning, compliance efforts, quality improvement initiatives, and operational controlsEnsure housing facilities meet university standards, policies, procedures, and safety requirementsParticipate as a member of the housing leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and operational decision-makingManage designated operational budgets and support communication efforts related to facilities services and projectsTeam Leadership & Supervision (30%)Lead and supervise maintenance, custodial, grounds, and administrative support staffEstablish clear expectations, workflows, and accountability measures for team members and student workersProvide coaching, mentorship, and leadership development for facilities staffConduct performance evaluations and support employee growth and engagementCoordinate presentations and updates related to construction and facilities progressMonitor operational performance and establish metrics to evaluate departmental successFoster a collaborative, service-oriented culture focused on operational excellence and responsivenessAdditional Responsibilities (10%)Participate in special projects and university initiatives as assignedSupport continuous improvement efforts that strengthen the student residential experiencePerform additional duties in support of housing and university operationsMinimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experienceTen (10) years of related facilities, housing operations, maintenance, or building management experienceAdditional education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications, including:High school diploma/GED with fourteen (14) years of related experienceAssociate degree with twelve (12) years of related experienceMaster’s degree with eight (8) years of related experienceDoctoral degree with six (6) years of related experienceDemonstrated supervisory and team leadership experienceExperience overseeing facilities operations, maintenance programs, and vendor coordinationStrong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities, projects, and operational needs simultaneouslyKnowledge of compliance standards, policies, procedures, and operational controls related to facilities managementAbility to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure systems, including communications, networks, cybersecurity systems, electrical systems, hazardous waste treatment systems, or water treatment systemsWhat’s in it for you:The anticipated salary for this position is $90,000 annually.Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi offers a comprehensive benefits package supporting employees financially, physically, and personally, including:Medical, dental, and vision coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield of TexasRetirement plans through TRS or ORP with employer contributionsLife insurance and long-term disability coverageFlexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)Vacation and sick leave accrual plus paid holidaysTuition assistance through the Employee Betterment Program, offering up to 18 credit hours annually after eligibility requirements are metWellness and employee support resourcesAdditional voluntary retirement savings optionsAnother Source works with their clients, on a retained project basis.
