Mobile Recreation Internship The Auburn Parks & Recreation Department is offering an exciting Mobile Recreation Internship for individuals passionate about youth engagement and community recreation. This internship supports our Rec n Roll program, a mobile recreation initiative that delivers a summer camp-style experience to various parks and schools across Auburn.As a Mobile Recreation Intern, you will assist in leading games, sports, and craft activities for children while traveling to over four different locations throughout the summer. This is a hands-on opportunity to develop leadership, event planning, and program coordination skills in a dynamic outdoor setting.Why Apply?Gain valuable experience in recreation, youth programming, and community outreach.Develop leadership and organizational skills in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.Make a positive impact by bringing recreation opportunities to Auburn's youth.If you're energetic, love working with kids, and want to gain experience in recreation management, apply today and be part of the Rec n Roll team!In this role, you will:Assist in planning and implementing mobile recreation activities, including summer camps.Organize and oversee games, sports, and creative projects for children.Prepare and maintain program areas, vehicles, and equipment.Support special events, volunteer coordination, and day-of-event logistics.Help manage program supplies, track spending, and maintain inventory.Assist with vehicle maintenance, including cleaning, fueling, and restocking supplies.Provide on-site support and supervision to ensure smooth program operations.Learning objectives for this opportunity include:Learning how to implement recreation programsUnderstanding large- and small-scale event planning and implementationLearning about history and education program managementLearning about grant reportingUnderstanding program and event budgetsTo be eligible for this internship position, you must:Have a high school diploma or equivalent AND be enrolled in a Recreation or related field degree program (Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's) AND possess and retain a valid state driver's license without impending loss AND must be at least 21 years of age.You will be required to obtain a valid CPR and First Aid certificate within three (3) weeks of appointment if you are not already certified. You may be required to obtain a King County Public Health Department Food Handler's Permit within one (1) month of employment as a condition of work.Our core business hours are Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm, with a break for lunch. We are physically in the office every day, and you will have an assigned desk with a City issued computer!
