CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesAs a Patient Access Representative, you will manage administrative duties for the patient intake process in our clinic, adhering to established guidelines. Every day you will interact with patients in person and by phone, facilitating check-in/out, collecting data and payments, validating insurance, scheduling appointments, and processing referrals and authorizations. To be successful, you will demonstrate critical thinking, strong customer service, and knowledge of insurance, billing, and medical terminology, ensuring a seamless, high-quality patient intake experience.Plans and coordinates daily patient access staff assignments, distribution of workload and follow up on tasks to ensure completion.Conducts orientation and training of newly hired staff.Conducts staff continuing education and training. Provides guidance and coaching to ensure staff members are familiar and compliant with established departmental goals, safety and security practices and procedures and pertinent local, state and federal regulationsUses technical knowledge to support the Patient Access (Admitting) department management and staff to ensure consistent understanding of established operating practicesProvides input to department supervisor/manager on staff performance.Notifies supervisor or manager of all employee relations issues as well as any other issues that may have the potential to impact the department.Job RequirementsMinimumHigh School Diploma or GEDTwo years of experience in hospital or medical clinic business processes e.g. Patient Access, Insurance Authorization, Patient Financial Services, Patient Accounting, Patient SchedulingDemonstrated knowledge of medical terminologyKnowledge and understanding of processes and systems related to registration and patient eligibility systemsExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing providing excellent customer serviceKnowledge of the principles and processes for providing effective customer service, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for delivered services and evaluation of customer satisfactionExcellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities/tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environmentBasic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Windows, including experience using multiple software/computer applications simultaneouslyBasic proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Ability to effectively capture information and accurately enter the data into software applicationsProficiency with patient registration computer applicationsPreferredState of Arizona Notary Public obtained within 1 year of hire (NOTARY:AZ)Previous leadership experience preferredElectronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred; Cerner strongly preferredWhere You'll WorkAt Dignity Health, living our values means bringing passion into action every day.
