From operating equipment to hands-on grounds work, you'll play a key role in how our parks look and function every day.Key Responsibilities* Operate equipment such as mowers, tractors, graders, and sprayers on a variety of terrains • Maintain park grounds including mowing, turf care, tree trimming, litter removal, and field maintenance • Perform basic equipment maintenance and report repair needs • Complete work orders, reports, and documentation accurately and on time • Work collaboratively with team members while providing professional interaction with park visitorsSupervisory Responsibilities* Assist with directing work crews as assigned • Support training of new or existing team membersWhat You Bring - Education & Experience* High school diploma or GED • At least 1 year of experience operating grounds or similar equipment • At least 1 year of experience in landscaping, turf management, or grounds maintenance • Ability to work outdoors in all seasons and handle physically demanding workPreferred Certifications* Valid Indiana Driver's License with for-hire endorsementTechnical Skills & Knowledge* Working knowledge of turf maintenance and grounds care practices • Ability to read and follow safety procedures, equipment manuals, and work instructions • Basic math and problem-solving skills for daily operationsWhy Work for the City of Fort Wayne* Be part of a team that directly impacts the quality of life in your community • Consistent schedule with opportunities for overtime • Hands-on, active work environment-no two days look the same • Build a long-term career with strong benefits, including pension and time offEqual Opportunity Employer
