Laboratory Assistant-Per Diem (Urgent Care)
Job Summary: Under the supervision of licensed laboratory personnel, and in accordance accreditation requirements and certification standards, performs blood and body fluid collection procedures on patients of all ages and provides for appropriate documentation, labeling, safe handling and transportation of laboratory specimens.
Education Requirements:
Required: High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred: Associates Degree in Science
Licensure/Certification Registration Requirements:
Required: Current New York Drivers licensure subject to review and
approval to drive hospital vehicles by the hospital’s insurance underwriters
Preferred: Certified Phlebotomy Course
Required Experience:
Required: Knowledge of Laboratory Terminology
Preferred: Previous phlebotomy experience and medical terminology
Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, excellent phlebotomy skills, collaboratively works with all hospital staff and other outside providers with the required communication and judgment to complete the assignment. Exercises decisive judgment in emergent situation, and has the ability to work. Must work with direct supervision.
Pay: $18.25 - $20.04 per hour
Experience:
Phlebotomy: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
CNA (Preferred)
Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
Medical Technologist (Preferred)
