Assistant Bakery Manager

Position SummaryThe Assistant Bakery Manager supports the Bakery Manager in driving sales, execution, and operational excellence within the bakery department. This role ensures high-quality product presentation, maintains food safety standards, and delivers exceptional customer service while leading and supporting bakery team members.Key Responsibilities Department Operations & ExecutionAssist in overseeing daily bakery operations, including production, merchandising, and inventory controlEnsure all bakery products meet company quality, freshness, and presentation standardsExecute production planning to meet customer demand while minimizing shrinkMaintain proper rotation (FIFO) and dating of all productsSupport pricing accuracy and promotional executionLeadership & Team SupportSupervise, train, and coach bakery clerks and decoratorsProvide direction and support during shifts to maintain productivity and service levelsAssist with scheduling and labor management to meet business needsPromote a positive, team-focused work environmentCustomer ServiceDeliver excellent customer service by engaging with customers and addressing inquiriesResolve customer concerns quickly and professionallyEnsure a clean, organized, and welcoming departmentFood Safety & ComplianceEnsure adherence to all food safety, sanitation, and health regulationsMaintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and audit standardsMonitor cleanliness of equipment, cases, and production areasInventory & Financial PerformanceAssist in inventory management, ordering, and receiving processesHelp control shrink and waste through proper ordering and production planningSupport achieving sales, margin, and labor targetsQualificationsPrevious experience in bakery operations or food retail preferredLeadership or supervisory experience preferredStrong communication and customer service skillsKnowledge of bakery production, food safety, and sanitation standardsAbility to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidaysPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periodsFrequent lifting of up to 50 lbsRepetitive tasks such as decorating, slicing, and stockingAbility to work in refrigerated environments
