Job Summary/Objective: Assist the Director of Lifestyle, Wellness & SIPSE in managing all wellness activities for independent living and health center residents by overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of life enrichment, Edutainment, therapeutic recreation activities, resident fitness program, spa, gift shop, and implementing SIPSE initiatives for staff. Supervisory Responsibilities: This role will supervise the following positions: Lead Wellness Specialist, Wellness Specialist, Life Enrichment Coordinator, Lead Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Therapeutic Recreation Specialists, Edutainment Coordinator, and Communications Coordinator. Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities: Lead and manage direct reports to assure the desired level of resident service, care, and satisfaction. Monitor and evaluate employee performance; provide coaching, training, and corrective actions as required. Assure equitable administration of policies, and compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. Develop and provide appropriate recommendations for the full range of employee and organizational matters, including staffing, compensation, promotion, and termination actions. Assist with developing, implementing and sustaining department specific tools, measures, and methodologies to maximize individual and team efficiencies, productivity, and effectiveness. Specific initiatives include organizational and job design, cross-training, succession planning, overtime control, and emergency/critical event preparedness. Assist with the development of an annual budget for the department and assist with managing available resources to meet budget targets while providing high-quality services throughout the year. Assist with developing strategic goals for the department that fit within the organization’s financial parameters and strategic plan while assuring high satisfaction levels among current and prospective residents. Provide guidance and oversight to the Wellness Specialists to assure fitness initiatives are implemented, including a broad spectrum of group classes and individual training sessions, resident fitness assessments, and new resident orientation programs while maintaining a commitment to resident safety. Provide guidance and oversight to the Life Enrichment Coordinator to assure the implementation of a wide variety of activities and events for Independent Living that support the five dimensions of wellness. Provide guidance and oversight to the Therapeutic Recreation Specialists to assure dynamic and effective activities are offered for residents throughout the Health Center. Assure that program materials, supplies, and equipment inventory are ordered and maintained to support the schedule of life enrichment activities. Assist with special events, as assigned, (i.e., Day of Caring, Alzheimer Walk, other fundraisers, etc.) to encourage participation by residents and staff. Lead and/or attend outings, activities, and events, as necessary. Perform other related functions as required or as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies: Solid problem-solving skills and decision-making skills. Strong interpersonal skills and understanding of quality customer management and service Strong verbal communication skills to effectively address issues and concerns with diverse populations while showing empathy and compassion. Ability to effectively interact with a diverse leadership team, staff, residents, and third-party associates, including vendors, providers, and visitors. Ability to effectively manage sensitive and confidential communications and information, while maintaining a high level of poise, tact, and diplomacy. Intermediate computer competency and ability to use and learn a variety of software programs, specifically Microsoft Office programs and fitness tracking software; ability to operate electronic audio-visual equipment. Education and Experience: Previous supervisory experience is required. Previous experience working with an older adult population or in the healthcare field is preferred. Bachelor’s degree in business management, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Therapeutic Recreation, or other related field; or an equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training is required. Oklahoma Activity and Social Services Directors training program is recommended. Personal Trainer or Group Training certification is recommended. CPR certification is preferred. Valid state driver license is required Physical Requirements: An extensive amount of standing, walking, kneeling, and bending at the waist, with a moderate amount of sitting, and reaching above the head and shoulders Ability to routinely lift and push up to 25 pounds Frequent use of ordinary communication, including normal levels of hearing and vision Ability to use a computer or other office equipment for an extensive period of time.
