DescriptionThe Neenah Joint School District is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE At-Risk Teacher at Neenah High School, for the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for a motivated and committed individual who is available to start August 25, 2026.The Neenah Joint School District (NJSD) is committed to excellence in education and providing students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. As a teacher in NJSD, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and help them achieve their goals.Provide support to the instructional process by serving as an at-risk teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas. The role includes developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines, with a strong emphasis on literacy development and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL). The teacher will collaborate with other staff and administrators to address instructional and/or classroom issues and support post-secondary preparation. Responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional programs and student progress is also a key component of this position.Responsibilities include working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; directing other persons within a small work unit; and tracking budget expenditures. Utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the organization's services.This position reports to the building's Associate Principal or Principal.Job Details:Administer and develop subject-specific assessments to assess student competency levels and/or develop individual learning plans, with a focus on literacy.Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress to communicate expectations; and student's achievements and methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.Assess student progress toward learning targets, objectives, expectations, and/or goals through Odysseyware and to provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and a variety of community resources to improve the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.Counsel students to improve performance, health status, appropriate behavior, problem-solving techniques, and a variety of personal issues.Demonstrates and differentiates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject-specific assignments to provide an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.Direct student teachers, volunteers, and/or student workers to provide an effective classroom program and address the needs of at-risk students.Instruct students in literacy and post-secondary preparation to enhance academic success through a defined course of study.Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment. Monitor students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, cafeteria, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, field trips, etc.) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.Participate in a variety of meetings and professional development activities to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions and to improve student achievement.Prepare a variety of written materials (e.g. grades, lesson plans following scope and sequence, correspondence with parents and students, examinations and quizzes, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.Report incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, harassment, etc.) to maintain the personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to state law and board policies.Respond to emergencies to resolve immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.Respond to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers, parents, administrators, students, central office staff, etc.) to resolve issues, providing information and/or direction.Support other classroom teachers to assist them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.Engage in the professional development of their skills, knowledge, abilities and mindsets.Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in education from an accredited program.License: Must hold or be eligible for Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) certification at the appropriate subject and grade level.Background check.Strong understanding of curriculum development and instructional practices.Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.Passion for fostering a positive and inclusive classroom culture.Commitment to professional growth and continuous improvement.
