As a Software Engineer supporting the Data Dictionary Capability, you will help build and sustain a platform that defines how mission data is structured, validated, and shared across critical systems. Your work will directly support interoperability, data quality, and operational effectiveness across programs that matter most to national defense.Schedule and Work DetailsLocation: Fort Meade, MD area (Government or Contractor facility)Schedule: Full-time, day shift (40 hours/week)Clearance: Active Top Secret Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (required)Here\'s What Your Day-to-Day Might Look LikeYou'll spend your days building and enhancing a mission-critical platform used to define and manage data specifications across systems. Expect to collaborate closely with fellow engineers, stakeholders, and program teams while working hands-on with modern enterprise technologies.Typical activities include:Designing and developing features for a Java/Spring-based application that manages data specificationsMaintaining and enhancing a user interface used to define attributes and valid valuesBuilding and supporting RESTful services that provide programmatic access to specificationsSupporting database development and data persistence strategiesParticipating in testing, deployment, and documentation activitiesCommunicating progress, technical decisions, and risks clearly to teammates and leadershipWorking collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high engineering standardsMinimum QualificationsClearance: Active Top Secret Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (required)Citizenship: Must be a U.S. CitizenEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university, plus relevant Software Engineering experience supporting programs of similar scope and complexity. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree where permitted by the labor category.Required SkillsStrong experience with Java development, including enterprise applicationsExperience using the Spring frameworkExperience designing and implementing RESTful web servicesFamiliarity with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL or similar SQL platformsExperience with user interface development, design, and testingKnowledge of web technologies including XML and JSONExperience working in Linux environmentsFamiliarity with container technologies such as Docker and KubernetesExperience with software deployment pipelinesFamiliarity with issue tracking or task management toolsAbility to communicate technical concepts clearly and professionallyDesired SkillsExperience with J2EE application developmentFamiliarity with additional ticketing systems such as RedmineExperience working in collaborative, cross-functional engineering teamsAbility to work effectively with minimal supervision in a mission environmentTechnology StackThis role leverages a modern enterprise stack centered on Java and the Spring framework, PostgreSQL databases, RESTful services using XML and JSON, Linux operating systems, container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes, CI/CD deployment pipelines, and task management tools like JIRA or similar systems.CompensationCompensation Range: $189,000.00 - $243,000.00*The salary range provided reflects an estimate based on current market trends and may be adjusted based on factors such as the candidate\'s experience, skills, and qualifications.
