The Ingredient Scientist makes an impact by: Leading cross-functional cost optimization initiatives, including ingredient matching, replacements, and new ingredient development. Partnering with Procurement to evaluate and prioritize short- and long-term cost-saving opportunities. Designing and executing line trials to validate new ingredients and formulations, ensuring processing feasibility (including CSI items). Collaborating closely with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure seamless scale-up and implementation. Working with cross-functional teams to identify, scope, and develop new products and continuous improvement opportunities. Supporting project teams through Stage-Gate processes, providing technical guidance, tracking cost savings, and communicating progress and gaps to inform decision-making. Supporting frozen and beverage product development as needed, including leading select projects when required. Performing all duties in compliance with all corporate and regulatory quality, GLP, and safety regulations. Supporting the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Food Safety and Quality. Demonstrating the ability to engage work in department and cross-functional teams to define and implement process improvements that provide value to the customer. Being accountable to the Turkey Hill Food Safety and Quality Principles. Performing all duties within established Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and FSMA guidelines as well as all safety regulations. Complying with Safe Quality Foods (SQF) food safety and quality standards. Performing all other duties as assigned. Physical Demands: The employee is required to talk and/or hear in an office setting (noise level is low) and manufacturing setting where noise levels can be high (PPE required). The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an office or manufacturing environment from 4-8+ hours. The employee must be able to ascend and descend stairs, and where applicable and when necessary, to perform various job-related tasks. Must be able to position self to move, reach with arms/hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed to perform various job-related tasks. The employee must be able to inspect all job-related equipment (office or floor) to ensure it is in good working condition prior to use. Must be able to use hands/fingers to handle (or feel) to operate various types of office equipment. Must be able to operate all job-related equipment (powered, hand or office) as required. Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus. Ability to lift 20 pounds and/or push/pull 20 pounds on a regular or occasional basis. Must have ability to travel to clients, customers, or other work sites by a variety of transportation methods.
