Pro Bono Family Law Attorney

The Hemmat Law Group is seeking a Pro Bono Family Law Attorney to lead our pro bono and community outreach efforts. This role is designed for an attorney who wants to make a direct, meaningful impact in the community by working closely with individuals navigating family law issues. This position will be responsible for setting up our formal pro bono legal clinic and related outreach efforts. The role may be performed in a hybrid or fully remote capacity, depending on location and experience. About Us Founded in 1994 by Steven Amir Hemmat, a former DOJ trial attorney, The Hemmat Law Group is a Seattle based family law firm focused on some of the Pacific Northwest’s most complex and high conflict divorce, custody, and high asset matters. We are known for providing clear, steady guidance during deeply personal transitions. Our work is grounded in strong advocacy, thoughtful strategy, and practical, compassionate counsel. Community engagement and access to justice are essential parts of that mission. The Role Individuals who seek pro bono support are often navigating divorce, custody disputes, domestic violence concerns, or other major transitions involving their children and families, often during periods of high stress and uncertainty. As the Pro Bono Family Law Attorney, you will lead our legal clinic efforts and provide guidance, legal information, and support to individuals in a thoughtful, empathetic, and professional manner. This role is focused on client facing work, community impact, and program stewardship for an independent and driven individual. You will help individuals understand their options, identify next steps, and access appropriate resources while exercising sound legal judgement. Responsibilities Design and lead and participate in pro bono legal clinics and community outreach initiatives Provide legal information and guidance on family law related matters, including divorce, parenting plans, custody, child support, and domestic violence concerns Support individuals navigating emotionally sensitive and high stress situations with empathy and clarity Help clinic participants identify appropriate resources, referrals, and next steps Collaborate with attorneys, volunteers, and staff to develop, improve, and expand pro bono and community engagement efforts. Qualifications 3 to 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in family law Active license and good standing with the Washington State Bar Association Strong interpersonal and communication skills High emotional intelligence and the ability to remain steady under pressure Comfort working directly with individuals experiencing emotional distress or crisis Compensation Anticipated range is $60,000 to $90,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
