Overview Sales Manager – UC Press (Hybrid | Oakland, CA)
University of California Press—one of the most forward-thinking scholarly publishers in the world—is seeking a Sales Manager to help grow revenue and expand the reach of impactful scholarship across academic and trade markets.
Responsibilities Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, own relationships with major accounts such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, independent retailers, and distribution partners.
Translate data into actionable sales strategies that support authors, customers, and future acquisitions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Publicity, Acquisitions, and Operations to drive performance, forecast results, and identify growth opportunities.
Qualifications 5+ years of sales or account management experience.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Familiarity with book publishing or bookselling.
Ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams.
Details Hybrid role based in Oakland (onsite two days per week), with approximately 15% travel.
Salary range: $103,000–$108,000 annually, plus UC's robust benefits package.
