The CISO will be responsible for the protection of the institution's digital assets, research data, student information, and technology infrastructure, all while supporting the academic and research missions. This role requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and seven years of information security work experience, with a strong background in security architecture and design, security engineering, auditing and compliance, incident response and forensics, security awareness training, and the management of an IT security department. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing enterprise-wide security programs, be familiar with Zero Trust architecture principles, and have experience in conducting security exercises and using cybersecurity maturity models. Professional security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent are mandatory. Applicants for the CISO position at the company should possess excellent communication skills, strong leadership, and team management capabilities. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred, along with experience in higher education and a deep knowledge of information security frameworks and security technologies. The ideal candidate will also have experience with security program maturity assessments and continuous improvement initiatives, as well as a solid understanding of research security requirements and federal compliance mandates. The CISO will be a key collaborator with the senior leadership team and must be adept at presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
