TITLE: Director of TransportationPosition SummaryThe Camdenton R-III Schools transportation plays a vital role in our students' education experience and safety. We are looking for a dedicated individual to manage all aspects of student transportation, ensuring safe and efficient operations, including routing, scheduling, fleet maintenance, staff supervision, and compliance with state regulations.QualificationsHigh School diploma (college degree preferred)Valid Missouri driver's license, often required to have or obtain a CDL with 'S' (school bus) and 'P' (passenger) endorsements. Previous experience preferred but not required in school district transportation management.Certified for Underground Storage Tank Operator or willing to become certified.GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Board Policy for Staff ConductREPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent, Finance and OperationsEssential Functions And Key ResponsibilitiesSupervises all personnel assigned to the Transportation department.Hires and evaluates bus drivers and monitors licensing (CDL) and physicals. Plans and implements daily transportation routes for students, including special education routes and extracurricular bus trips.Work with parents, administrators, and bus drivers to correct student disciplinary problems.Plan and direct all training and inservice programs for bus drivers.Direct the maintenance of all transportation equipment within the department and keep continuing records of all maintenance.Oversees preventive maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections for all district vehicles. Manages the transportation department budget.Develop recommendations for future transportation needs based on an annual survey of resident students.Advise and collaborates with administrators on emergency situations (e.g., inclement weather) Create and maintain a vehicle log on each district-owned vehicle. Over-see log will include all repairs and maintenance.Responsible for all reports related to the transportation program, e.g., State Transportation reports.Supervise the preparation of all buses for the annual state school inspection.Ensures compliance with Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) regulations, DESE standards, and school board policies. Be certified as an instructor and as a third party tester for school bus operator permits.Attend appropriate committee, state meetings, and staff meetings.Does not include a 30 minute lunch.Additional DutiesPerforms other related tasks as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent.EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Support Staff.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT12 Month Contract: 259 days, 8 hrs Does not include a 30 minute lunch.Salary is commensurate with experience.
