Hiring - Painters - 1st/2nd Shift, Paying from $20/Hr to $25/HrAs a Painter, you will be responsible for cleaning and preparing wood or metal surfaces for painting, ensuring they are free from dirt, grease, rust, scale, and other contaminants. You will mask and tape areas not requiring painting and apply paint to parts, equipment, and structural surfaces on the interior and exterior of ships and shipyard buildings. You will mix materials according to the Product Data Sheet, inspect painted areas, and perform touch-up work as needed.ResponsibilitiesSet up tools and equipment at the job site for surface preparation.Prepare surfaces to be painted.Set up spray paint equipment for coating application.Mix paint materials according to PDS and apply coatings to surfaces.Hand paint and/or spray paint in designated areas and inspect work for touch-ups.Perform housekeeping in assigned work areas during and upon completion of work.Operate high-reach equipment to prepare surfaces and apply coatings in hard-to-reach elevated areas.Remove scrap and perform general cleaning and sweeping.Perform other tasks relevant to the trade as assigned.Essential SkillsOne to three years of experience with hand brush and spray painting application or SSPC C-12 Certification accreditation.Knowledge of surface preparation procedures and proper use and mixing of paints.Ability to read and understand the Product Data Sheet.Ability to identify paint application requirements and equipment needed for coating application.Capability to operate high-reach equipment and work at heights and in confined spaces.Comprehension of written and verbal instructions and safety instructions, regulations, and warnings.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
