Intern PositionWith over 20 departments providing a diverse array of services, the City of Rosenberg offers a unique variety of internship opportunities across a number of fields of study for students to enhance their academic learning with real world knowledge. In some situations, an internship can be developed collaboratively with the department for a more specialized experience. Through internship placements, students receive valuable training while providing public service to the community. Projects and work assignments vary by department and are designed to give the Intern a broad, positive experience in municipal government. Through the City's internship program, Interns can: Enhance your resume Investigate your own personal interest and goals Expand your knowledge of local government Network with government professionals Some assignments may include: Performs general administrative duties for various departments throughout the City Answers incoming calls and take informative messages for appropriate staff and forward to appropriate personnel Assists with processing of payment for invoices Assists with special projects for assigned department by conducting research, organizing data, and performing analysis Assists with planning, implementing and post event activities Performs Data entry Observes and assists professionals in assigned department where work will be performed Performs other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or successful completion of the General Education Development (GED) Test Training and experience using a personal computer with a variety of software including Microsoft Office Must be currently pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Government, Public Administration, or a closely related field Licenses, Certificates, and Other Requirements: Valid Class C Texas Driver License Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of the following pre-employment checks: Criminal background check Controlled substance screening Employees are required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week in order to receive benefits. The position you are currently considering is a part-time position and will be eligible for the following benefits: CREDIT UNION:Available through the Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union. EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP):Available through United Behavioral Health, provides assistance for employees and their immediate family members in the event of an emotional, family, legal, medical, substance abuse and/or financial problem. WORKERS' COMPENSATION:All employees are covered under the Texas Workers' Compensation Insurance program through the Texas Municipal League.
