The OpportunityTetra Tech is currently seeking a mid-to-senior level Natural Resources and Permitting Specialist in Arizona. The selected candidate will be responsible for preparing technical reports and managing small teams in reporting and field tasks. Utilizing subject matter expertise and critical thinking skills to solve complex resource management and environmental permitting issues. Working collaboratively with diverse teams spanning various disciplines. Communicating with private sector clients and federal, state, and local agency representatives. Leading biological resources field studies. Managing the scope, schedule, and budget of small to mid-size projects. Assisting in business development initiatives, including industry conference attendance. Development of proposals. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, natural resources, or related field. 10 years of experience in similar field. Biological survey field reporting proficiency. Proficiency with MS Office. Firm understanding of core environmental regulations including the National Environmental Policy Act, Endangered Species Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Clean Water Act. Must have strong technical writing skills, be an effective communicator, and have strong teamwork and collaboration experience. Must be technically capable in an office and field environment. Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state and perform field work/oversight (approx. 25-50% of travel required). A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required. Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree. Threatened and endangered species survey permit authorization. Certified wetland delineator training. Project management experience. Physical Requirements Ability to hike up to 10 miles while carrying a 35lb pack. Ability to lift and carry 75lbs over short distances. Ability to complete field work in remote areas which will include walking and hiking across variable terrain, uneven and steep ground, in all weather conditions (altitude, variable weather: cold weather near freezing and hot weather up to 105 degrees, loud noises, heavy equipment, etc.). Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state as well as perform field work/oversight (approx. 25%-50% of travel required). Have full range of motion to support field activities. Office-based tasks will include prolonged periods of time sitting or standing at a desk and using a computer and other office equipment. Work Environment / Environmental Factors Field work will include work to be performed outside, as a result will include work in various environmental factors (weather, altitude, steep terrain, noise, insects, arachnids, reptiles, mammals, plants, etc.). This can include remaining stationary for long periods of time, walking, lifting, bending, crouching, crawling, and sitting for field activities. Office work will include extended periods sitting or standing at a desk and using a computer and other office equipment. Out-of-town travel and fieldwork in remote areas is expected. Field mobilizations are expected to typically range from one to five working days, extended field mobilization ranging from five to ten consecutive days are expected to be rare. Additional Information Full-time, Monday through Friday work schedule (40 hours). Occasionally extended hours may be required based on project and/or client needs. Work will be performed in an office and field setting. This position may have potential for a hybrid work arrangement to be worked out with the direct supervisor, but ideally the candidate will reside/work in AZ.
