Groundsperson
Position SummaryA Groundsperson is responsible for preparing the job site and loading and unloading trucks with logs, brush, and debris. This position services and maintains equipment, is responsible for directing traffic, and cleans up the job site. A Groundsperson will assist tree crews by working on the ground and handing tools and heavy materials to crew members.Duties And Responsibilities IncludeEssential Duties:Clears undergrowth from right-of-way by using hand tools or sawsClears sites, streets, and grounds of woody and herbaceous materials, such as tree stumps, fallen trees, and limbsFlags traffic to protect employees and the public from injuryUses a chainsaw to cut brush, logs, and larger stumpsGathers and feeds brush into wood chippersOperates the controls for winches, booms, and spray equipmentFollows and gives hand, voice, or other signals in operating associated equipmentServices gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools, as well as other tree-related equipmentDrives and operates trucks and equipment as assignedDuties and responsibilities may change with or without noticeWhat You'll Bring To The TeamUnderstands occupational hazards and safety precautionsUnderstands basic knots, including but not limited to Bowline, Blake's Hitch, Taut-Line Hitch, and Clove HitchValid driver's license with an acceptable driving record per Company requirementsKnowledge of essential job functions and responsibilitiesAttention to detailOrganizational skillsStrong oral and written communication skillsAbility to problem solveMeet all physical requirements of the positionPass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations18 years of age or older, or 21 if CDL is requiredLegally authorized to work in the United StatesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
