JOBSEARCHER

Analyst - Data Scientist (Stan Developer) (Remote)

Stan Developer / Bayesian Statistical ModelerSeeking a Stan Developer / Bayesian Statistical Modeler with strong expertise in Stan, Bayesian modeling, hierarchical/time-series/spatial models, and probabilistic programming to design and implement production-grade statistical models. Hands-on experience with MCMC, HMC/NUTS, convergence diagnostics, variational inference, optimization, custom log-probability functions, and model performance tuning is required. Proficiency in R or Python, CmdStan/CmdStanPy/CmdStanR, C++, Git, CI/CD, Docker, and parallel processing/GPU acceleration, with the ability to translate Bayesian insights into actionable business outcomes. Location: Remote. Shift Timing: Normal (Day Shift).Key ResponsibilitiesStatistical Model Design: Formulate, implement, and validate complex Bayesian models (e.g., hierarchical models, time-series, spatial models, mixture models) in Stan.Algorithm & Performance Tuning: Optimize model execution time and convergence using advanced Stan features, parameterization techniques (e.g., non-centered vs. centered parameterizations), and custom C++ functions where appropriate.Sampling & Diagnostics: Execute and monitor MCMC sampling (NUTS/HMC) and optimization routines; perform rigorous convergence diagnostics (e.g., R-hat, ESS, divergence checks, posterior predictive checks).Environment Integration: Interface Stan models with production data pipelines using RStan, PyStan, CmdStan, or CmdStanPy.Collaboration & Communication: Translate complex probabilistic outputs and uncertainty estimates into actionable, clear insights for stakeholders and cross-functional engineering teams.Required QualificationsProbabilistic Programming: Hands-on experience developing, debugging, and optimizing Bayesian statistical models directly in Stan.
