Fixed Asset Accountant

Position ProfileNewQuest PropertiesHouston, TX Job Title: Fixed Asset AccountantReports to: Tax Manager Job Summary:The Fixed Asset Accountant manages the lifecycle of the Company’s fixed and intangible assets including acquisition, tracking, depreciation, amortization, and disposal, while ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. Key Responsibilities:·        Record and track newly acquired fixed assets, both tangible and intangible, and maintain detailed asset records within the fixed asset subledger.·        Calculate and record depreciation and amortization in accordance with the Company’s accounting methodology.·        Reconcile the fixed asset subledger with the general ledger and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual fixed asset reports. Review fixed asset activity on the general ledger and collaborate with property accounting on any discrepancies.·        Timely review and resolution of construction-in-progress and project close-outs.·        Recommend cost segregation studies and 179D studies where appropriate. Assist with engagements as needed.·        Collaborate with other departments to streamline asset management processes and ensure accurate capitalization of project costs.·        Maintain clear, relevant, and complete documentation and audit trails to support treatment of each asset.·        Investigate potential impairment of assets and recommend disposals when necessary.·        Support internal and external reviews by providing schedules, documentation, and responding to inquiries.·        Recommend improvements to fixed asset procedures, policies, and systems for better management. ·        Participate in special projects as needed. Qualifications:·        Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate fixed asset accounting·        Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred·        Strong knowledge of accounting principles, depreciation methods, and fixed asset concepts·        Skillset to work collaboratively across departmental lines·        Strong verbal and written communication skills ·        Proficiency in real estate or fixed asset accounting software packages. Yardi or Bloomberg Fixed Asset experience is preferred.·        Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
