We deliver safe, reliable energy to more than 1,200 communities.Duties:Under immediate supervision, working on a line construction or maintenance crew in the capacity of an apprentice for advancement to Journeyman LinemanAdvance in such work in accordance with an orderly program, initially on unenergized circuits, and later on work on energized circuits ranging progressively from lower to maximum voltagePerform such work at first under the leadership of a Crew Leader or Line Foreman, and later independently after ability to perform each phase of the work skillfully and safely has been demonstrated; and to do similar and less skilled work as assigned.Load and unload equipment, material, job site debris and maintain housekeeping according to Ameren's safety standards and proceduresDig trenches and holes in an ergonomically safe mannerPerform construction work in the field, in all weather conditions, throughout the service territoryUse and maintain various hand and power tools and equipmentMust work in a team environmentMust work safely at all times as defined by Ameren's safety standards and proceduresDevelop and maintain familiarity with the operation and maintenance of the boom truck, digger and bucket truck and various pulling unitsAssist in digging holes and setting polesMaintain cleanliness of the vehicleOperate equipment and hydraulic tampPrepare materials for each project including cutouts, arrestors and transformersLoad and unload vehiclesPrepare vehicles for daily projectsClean cover up materials, repair, clean and inspect tools on the vehiclesAssist with material stocking, pulling of stock for projectsMust not be afraid of heightsAbility to maintain the security of confidential informationStay abreast of advances in technologyQualifications:As a condition of acceptance on this job, candidates who are otherwise qualified will be required to take and pass the appropriate State/Federal driver's licensing requirements, medical testing and drug screening, the Construction and Skilled Trades (CAST) test and the company apprentice Lineman Evaluations.
