Renewable Development Engineer
About the PositionAs a mid-level Renewable Development Engineer in the Renewable Development group, you will be the primary liaison for development, bid support, and/or preliminary (0%-30%) PV, BESS and Wind design. Design work between internal Operations and Sales stakeholders, and external stakeholders (e.g., Clients). The Renewable Development Engineer works collaboratively with these Stakeholders to perform preliminary PV electrical and PV civil design.This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.Essential ResponsibilitiesDesigns PV, BESS and Wind projects in all areas of the US.Passionate about learning multi disciplines and multi technologies.Acts as a liaison between the solar design team and relevant internal and external stakeholdersDelivers preliminary PV, BESS and/or Wind design (0-30%). Project level of detail is greatly dependent on contracted scope. Design can include partial or all of the following: Meet the technical requirements outlined by the client and/or OwnerCreation of constraint file to determine initial project feasibilitySolar, PV, or Wind layout creationPreliminary level cable and DC designPreliminary level Civil grading and drainageProvide high-level Bill of Materials for civil infrastructure, electrical material, and foundation quantitiesMust be able to self-schedule preliminary design activities to meet deadlines set by external stakeholdersVarious EE Studies (Load flow, ampacity, losses and/or short circuit)Production estimates (Pvsyst)Works with Proposal team and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to establish proposal pricingProvides engineering & technical support to the other members of the Business Development & Project Services TeamDevelops and maintain outstanding company-client relationshipsMaintains high ethical and professional standardsDevelops equipment vendor relationshipsAttends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of workAttends safety training and adhere to all safety rules and guidelinesWorks well is self-motivated environment and driven for continual improvement.Other responsibilities as assignedMust Have[JS2] Education: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution, electric power option preferredExperience: 2 - 6 years of relevant engineering or field experienceLicensure: FE, PE is a plus, but not requiredExperience with energy modeling using PVsystExperience with AutoCAD and preferred PVCaseStrong skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, ProjectBasic understanding electrical and civil engineering with specific emphasis on PV solarAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with customers and internal personnel; exercises strong intrapersonal skills.Must be self-motivated, well-organized, and a skilled decision maker that is comfortable in a fast-paced design environmentPossesses excellent problem-solving skillsCommercial understanding of the engineering or construction industriesPossesses effective written and oral communications skillsGood interpersonal and people skillsApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basisWorking ConditionsWork Environment:Work is performed in an office setting and some field work may be requiredTravel:Typical: 5 - 15%Physical Activities:Must be able to lift 25lbs.About NEI Electric Power EngineeringServing Others.
