This Plumber job is located at Offutt Air Force Base (AFB), Bellevue/Omaha, Nebraska . As a civil service Plumber with the 55thCivil Engineer Squadron, you will, working independently, perform the full range of journey level plumbing duties such as installing, repairing, and modifying water supply, sewage disposal, gas distribution, oil lines, and similar utility systems and equipment. Typical duties include: · Installs, modifies, repairs, and maintains a variety of new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems, and water closets, tubs, backflow prevention devices/assemblies, fire sprinkler systems, and showers. · Plans and accomplishes work from initial layout to final assembly which involves interpreting and applying building plans, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and other plumbing guides/codes, and using shop mathematics. · Troubleshoots/tests various plumbing systems and equipment including backflow prevention devices such as reduced pressure principal devices, double check devices, atmospheric vacuum breakers, and other cross connection devices. · Uses and maintains tools such as tapes, rules, plumb bobs, hand and power pipe threaders, cutters, pipe wrenches, angle drills, hacksaws and power saws, power sewer cleaning equipment, various gas detectors and meters, and lead pots. · Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. · Uses and assures proper fit of required safety equipment and clothing. Salary and Benefits This skilled trade position has an Hourly WG-9 Wage Range of $26.90 - $31.38 per hour AND, based on your experience, you will also be eligible to receive up to a 25% annual salary increase for up to two years. Qualifications: Your background and experience that you describe in your resume and supporting documentation (i.e., certifications, transcripts etc.) will be evaluated based upon the following: · Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, operation, and repair, to include routing, placement, slant, slope, and fall of systems; and of technical practices to plan, lay out, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair various systems and equipment. · Knowledge of safety regulations, procedures, and practices. · Skill in installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment without more than normal supervision. · Skill in using and maintaining tools and equipment such as rules, levels, plumb bobs, dividers, various gauges and meters, various drain cleaning devices, hydrostatic pumps, and torches. · Skill in troubleshooting difficult or hard-to-detect leaks and operating problems. · Ability to use shop mathematics, take measurements, and lay out angles, arcs, and circles. Additional Requirements: · US Citizenship is required. · This is a drug testing position. Employees are subject to random drug testing. · Must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance. · Must have a valid driver’s license. · Shift work may be required, and you may be required to train and/or guide other personnel in the performance of plumbing duties. · Physical requirements include repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and in other hard-to-reach places, requiring the employee to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and climb as well as lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds unassisted and over 40 pounds with assistance.
