Deputy Clerk II

Chatham County seeks a detail-oriented individual with fiscal accounting experience for a Deputy Court Clerk II role in the State Court's Clerks Office. This position combines accounting tasks with public service, ensuring accurate records and providing excellent customer service.Perform various accounting tasks along with administrative and clerical support, technical accounts processing, and financial recording duties.Serve as a sworn Deputy Clerk and will be authorized to accept filings, certify documents, and sign documents on behalf of the Clerk of Court.Apply accounting and budgetary principles to maintain standard fiscal and accounting records.Maintain, analyze, and reconcile projects.Create and maintain financial databases, project spreadsheets, and project files.Process accounts receivables in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.Ensure the proper receipting of fees.Utilize data entry skills, computer literacy, and knowledge of customized software applications in performing daily tasks.Use your customer service and communication skills as you assist the public by phone and in person.Perform other duties as assigned.High School Diploma or GED, andCollege level course work in accounting, bookkeeping, computer science, or a closely related field, andAt least one (1) year of fiscal accounting experience, including using automated accounting tools; orAny equivalent combination of training and experience.Experience in designing and/or using Excel spreadsheets is desired.Clerical testing will be required during the interview process for selected candidates.
