Job ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Team Lead Competent Professional Authority (CPA), provides all clinical components of the WIC certification process and individual and group nutrition education according to WIC program standards. Provides other WIC nutrition services as assigned.Provides WIC certifications including health history, anthropometrics, immunization screening, hemoglobin testing, evaluation of risk status, nutrition and health counseling, prescription of WIC food package, documentation, and high‐risk referrals following program standards and protocols.Provides Level 1 and Level 2 breastfeeding counseling and support within scope of practice to new mothers, issues breast pumps to WIC‐certified breastfeeding participants according to policy, and provides and follows up on breastfeeding promotion and support activities.Develops, conducts, and evaluates group nutrition education for WIC participants following the facilitated learning process. Participates in clinic/class scheduling, caseload monitoring, and outreach as a member of the multidisciplinary WIC team, working with other program staff and disciplines to enhance integration and quality of service.Provides and documents individual nutrition follow‐up for low‐risk referrals, monitors WIC contract and special formulas as assigned, assists with maintenance and upkeep of nutrition education materials and resources, and prepares and submits required reports. Other duties as assigned.Minimum and Additional RequirementsState Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in nutrition, food science, dietetics, family and consumer sciences or another science‐related degree with emphasis on nutrition. An associate's degree in science with relevant nutrition experience in a clinical or public health setting may substitute for the required bachelor's degree.
