Senior Avionics Systems Engineer

KTS develops complex, cutting-edge aircraft avionics hardware and software solutions supporting digital interoperability, survivability, situational awareness, and data collection.  We have a proven track record of delivering high quality products throughout the defense industry.KTS is seeking an experienced systems engineer to provide technical leadership in the development and certification of avionics installations on military aircraft.  This is a full-time position at the KTS facility in Des Plaines, IL.Responsibilities:Serve in a leadership capacity of a multi-disciplinary team to design, procure, manufacture, install, and test military avionics systemsCoordinate with Government customers to understand and meet system requirements including, but not limited to, airworthiness and safetyLiaise with engineering, manufacturing, and aircraft artisans to ensure consistency and an interdisciplinary approach in system designConduct system level analysis for compliance and functionality Review engineering drawings, bills of material, and other technical dataOrganize, prepare, review and present system level designs for meetings and design reviews with customersCreate documentation such as test reports, analyses, or other compliance data to verify and validate the system designEducational Qualifications & Requirements:Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience Experience with military avionics system development, requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test, installation, and design verification Experience with military standards such as MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704 and MIL-HDBK-516.Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test proceduresExperience with AS9100D or similar quality standardsFamiliarity with implementing design/integration considerations associated with size, weight, power, and cooling requirements for aircraft equipmentFamiliarity with aircraft rack design, shock isolation, and mission line replaceable unit mounting/integrationExperience with electrical wiring interconnection systems to include selection of components such as conductors, connectors, backshells, relays, circuit breakers, etc. Knowledge of EMI shielding and wire harness separation best practicesAbility to work independently under general supervision and as part of a large multi-disciplined teamAbility to travel (< 25%)Ability to obtain Security Clearance, for which the United States Government requires United States citizenshipPreferred Skills:Proven history of installing complex avionics systems on military aircraftExperience with communication systems to include RF component selection such as antennas and cablingBenefitsKranze Technology Solutions is proud to provide extremely competitive benefits to all full time employees including:Comprehensive Leave plan (Paid Time Off)Comprehensive Health Care package including Medical, Vision, Dental, Health Savings Account (HSA), and moreGenerous 401 (k) retirement planPaid OvertimeFlex Time and Flexible SchedulingTuition Reimbursement optionsCasual and relaxed work environmentWe recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company.  As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates.  As required by law in this state, the estimated salary range for this position is $130,000 – $175,000 and represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect.  We tailor our offers within the range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidate’s experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process.About Kranze Technology SolutionsWe are part of an SPX Technologies’ Communication Technologies platform in the Detection & Measurement business segment.
