Financial Analyst

Job Description PURPOSEThe purpose of this position is to oversee the day to day operations within the department as well as to work with accounting to provide all information required to complete journal entries. The Financial Analyst is also responsible for the analysis of data and the reporting of that data.ESSENTIAL DUTIESResearch and prepare reports; analyze and explain variancesrepare reports for monthly Japan reporting packagePrepare, review and distribute monthly financial reports to cost centersAssist with annual budget processesSupport the Manager, Financial Reporting and Analysis in meeting the relevant reporting needs of the companyPerform ad hoc analysis as necessaryPrepare journal entriesEffectively communicate with SMC employees at all levels, including the executive teamAll other duties as temporarily or permanently assigned PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENTPosition requires extensive work using a computerMaintain seated posture for 8 or more hours per dayMay require evening and weekend work in response to the needs of the systems being supportedAbility to read, write, speak, and understand EnglishSome Travel may be required (15% or less)MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSBachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related fieldStrong attention to detail and interest in accuracyStrong organization skills, ability to multi-taskStrong communication skillsStrong analytical skillsMust be proficient in MS Excel (including Pivot Tables, Macros and formulas).Company DescriptionSMC Corporation of America is a part of a global organization that supports our customers in every industrialized country and is the U.S. subsidiary of SMC Corporation based in Japan.
