The team’s mission is to create world-class programs and experiences that strengthen GitHub’s brand, delight customers, and support employees worldwide.The GitHub Shop program plays a key role in delivering memorable brand experiences through merchandise, customer engagement, internal programs, and event support.Position OverviewWe are seeking a highly organized, customer-focused, and detail-oriented GitHub Shop Specialist to support day-to-day operations for GitHub’s merchandise and swag programs.This role will work closely with Shop Program Managers, internal stakeholders, vendors, procurement teams, and agency partners to coordinate customer requests, order fulfillment, inventory management, and operational processes.The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, process-driven, and thrives in a fast-paced collaborative environment.Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer & Order OperationsManage day-to-day internal customer (employee) merchandise requests and inquiriesCoordinate order placement, fulfillment tracking, shipping updates, and issue resolutionEnsure timely processing of requests within defined service-level agreements (SLAs)Provide exceptional customer service and maintain positive stakeholder experiencesVendor & Agency CoordinationPartner with external vendors, fulfillment agencies, and procurement teamsMonitor purchasing and production timelinesResolve shipping, fulfillment, and inventory discrepanciesTrack project progress and ensure alignment across stakeholdersProgram & Process ManagementMaintain operational reports, calendars, trackers, and status updatesManage documentation including playbooks, templates, process guides, and release checklistsIdentify workflow inefficiencies and implement process improvementsResearch root causes of operational issues and recommend corrective actionsInventory & Event SupportManage and organize branded merchandise inventory at the San Francisco officeSupport merchandise preparation and logistics for events and special programsAssist with planning and coordination of onsite brand and Shop experiencesMaintain inventory accuracy and storage organizationRequired Qualifications2+ years of experience in operations, customer service, project coordination, logistics, or related fieldsStrong customer service and stakeholder management skillsExperience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneouslyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detailAbility to work effectively in fast-paced, collaborative environmentsDemonstrated problem-solving and process improvement experienceExperience working with remote collaboration tools such as Slack and Microsoft 365Ability to work independently and proactively follow through on tasksPhysical ability to lift and manage inventory up to 35 lbsPreferred QualificationsExperience with Shopify or e-commerce platformsFamiliarity with procurement tools such as Coupa or IroncladExperience supporting events, merchandise, or fulfillment operationsRetail or customer-facing operational experienceFamiliarity with GitHub and developer-focused organizationsIdeal Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate is:Customer-obsessed and service-orientedHighly organized and process-drivenAdaptable and resourcefulComfortable managing operational details and ambiguityCollaborative with a positive, team-first attitudeMotivated by improving systems and customer experiencesWhy Join This Team?Opportunity to support one of the world’s most recognized developer brandsExposure to global marketing, branding, and event initiativesCollaborative and fast-paced work environmentAbility to directly impact employee and customer experiencesWork with innovative teams and high-visibility programsWork EnvironmentHybrid work arrangementMinimum 2 days onsite in San Francisco officeRole includes coordination of physical inventory and onsite operational support
