Position OverviewBone Drs Orthopedic Care, a leading orthopedic practice, is expanding to include a Sports & Functional Medicine division focused on metabolic health, performance optimization, and non-operative musculoskeletal care. We are seeking a board-certified physician with training in Sports Medicine and experience or strong interest in functional, metabolic, and hormone-based care to help develop and lead this service line.Key ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and manage active adults and athletes with non-operative musculoskeletal conditionsProvide sports medicine–based care including injury prevention, exercise prescription, and return-to-activity planningLead medical weight loss programs, including GLP-1 and body recomposition strategiesDiagnose and manage male hypogonadism and hormone optimization (e.g., testosterone therapy)Develop and oversee nutrition and supplement protocols grounded in evidence-based practiceInterpret advanced metabolic, hormonal, and performance-related laboratory testingAddress lifestyle contributors including sleep, stress, recovery, and training loadCollaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons to optimize pre- and post-operative outcomesRefer surgical cases appropriately within the orthopedic practiceProgram DevelopmentHelp build and refine standardized clinical protocols for:Weight loss and metabolic healthHormone optimizationPerformance and longevity careParticipate in shaping the brand and clinical identity of the Sports & Functional Medicine divisionAssist in supervising or collaborating with advanced practice providers (NPs/PAs), dietitians, or health coaches as the program scalesQualificationsRequiredMD or DOBoard-certified in:Family Medicine or Internal MedicineCompletion of an ACGME-accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine FellowshipActive, unrestricted medical license (or ability to obtain)Comfortable practicing in a self-pay / cash-based clinical modelStrong communication skills and patient-centered approachPreferredAdditional training or certification in one or more of the following:Functional Medicine (e.g., IFM or equivalent)Obesity Medicine (ABOM or equivalent experience)Hormone replacement therapyLifestyle or longevity medicinePrior experience in:Sports medicine clinicsConcierge or direct primary carePerformance, wellness, or optimization-focused practicesInterest in building and growing a service line within a larger orthopedic organizationPractice Environment & ModelCash-pay / membership-based or bundled-care structureNo primary care call obligationsStrong internal referral network from orthopedicsEmphasis on quality of care, outcomes, and patient experienceOpportunity for leadership and program developmentIdeal Candidate ProfileEnjoys blending sports medicine with metabolic and functional careWants to move beyond insurance-driven visit constraintsValues outcomes, education, and long-term patient relationshipsSees the connection between weight, hormones, performance, and musculoskeletal healthIs entrepreneurial-minded but prefers clinical leadership over administrative burden
