Technician II

DescriptionBASIC JOB SUMMARY:The overall purpose of the Technician II is to install and repair TEC services and equipment. The Technician II will perform a variety of tasks and relies on experience, sound judgement, and the ability to understand and comply with pre-established guidelines. This position requires the ability to interact and communicate in a professional, effective, and timely manner, both in writing and verbally, with customers, co-workers, supervisors, and managers as well as, the successful use of a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required. The Technician II is expected to adhere to regulations, Company policies, and values, and to represent themselves and the Company in a positive and productive manner. Adherence to all standard operating procedures, safe work practices as found in the TEC Safety Handbook, and OSHA guidelines is essential to promote safety of all employees.ESSENTAIL JOB FUNCTIONS:The essential job functions and duties described below may not be the only requirements of the position. It may be necessary to follow other instructions or perform other related duties as required by the company.Travel to on-site work locations using a personal vehicle or a company vehicle, therefore, a valid personal driver's license and adequate insurance coverage on the personal vehicle is required at all times. When applicable, a valid commercial driver's license may be required, as wellInstall, access, and maintain company products and services in a proficient, timely, mannerOperating TEC's customer tracking system in an efficient and timely mannerPerform advanced tests of equipment and store results in the TEC customer tracking systemConfer with customers to determine and make modifications and recommendations for improvement to systems to ensure customer satisfactionContinued education applicable to the position as well as, acquiring industry certifications and training is expectedOTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:May install and service TEC communications and data equipment as assignedMay install from staking sheets the buried distribution cable and pedestals, add new plan resources and severe service to the old plantMay install and maintain transport and special service circuits utilizing copper and/or fiberMay perform aspects of emergency repairs of fiber optic cableMay operate different types of equipment and vehicles associated with the position, as neededMay mentor, lead, and direct the work of other techniciansOther duties as assignedRequirementsJob Qualifications:Education/Experience - High school diploma, GED is required. Obtaining communication industry certifications is preferred and encouraged.
