Conducts independent inspections/surveys of activities throughout all phases. Discusses quality of safety programs, presents suggestions for improvements, and provides advice and assistance on technical safety issues. Provides input and recommendations concerning accident prevention. Creates, complies and recommends dissemination of procedures on safety and accident reporting and investigations. Provides technical safety advice and assistance on matters pertaining to operations and activities.Other Conditions And RequirementsThis is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD, Section 9905 to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Qualified candidates may be called for an interview.Minimum RequirementsGS-12 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Providing guidance on safety regulations, policies, procedures, and/or standards; (2) Developing techniques to control and/or eliminate hazardous conditions; (3) Performing field surveys of construction and maintenance work sites; and (4) Presenting briefings and reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain Occupational Safety Health Administration - OSHA facilitator credentials within 24 months of onboarding. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
