Platform Engineer
OverviewWe are looking for a Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate the foundational technology platforms that enable secure, scalable, and efficient software delivery across the organization. This role focuses on building internal platforms and infrastructure capabilities that allow engineering teams to deliver applications quickly while maintaining strong standards for security, reliability, and operational performance.You will work across DevSecOps platforms, cloud and hybrid infrastructure, networking, and enterprise technical standards, helping create reusable platform services that simplify infrastructure complexity and enable self-service development environments.This role sits at the intersection of enterprise architecture, infrastructure engineering, and software delivery, ensuring that systems are standardized, secure, and designed to support mission-critical workloads.LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.ResponsibilitiesDesign and build internal platform capabilities that support application development, deployment, and operationsEstablish and implement enterprise technical standards and architecture patterns for infrastructure, platforms, and development environmentsDevelop and maintain DevSecOps platforms and CI/CD pipelines that support secure and automated software deliveryDesign and operate cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments across AWS, Azure, on-premises, or edge environmentsEngineer and manage compute, storage, and virtualization platforms supporting scalable workloadsDesign and maintain secure network architectures and connectivity, including segmentation, zero trust approaches, and hybrid networkingBuild and operate infrastructure as code (IaC) capabilities to standardize environment provisioning and configurationImplement security boundaries, platform hardening, and baseline configurations aligned with enterprise security requirementsSupport endpoint and collaboration platforms that enable secure productivity and engineering workflowsManage infrastructure lifecycle operations including provisioning, upgrades, patching, and capacity planningCollaborate with security, architecture, and product engineering teams to ensure platforms support secure, compliant, and reliable application deliveryImprove platform reliability through monitoring, automation, and operational toolingQualificationsStrong experience designing and operating modern infrastructure and platform environmentsExperience building and maintaining DevOps or DevSecOps platforms and CI/CD pipelinesProficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid infrastructure architecturesExperience with infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or similar frameworksExperience working with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Docker and KubernetesStrong understanding of networking fundamentals, including routing, segmentation, and secure connectivityExperience managing compute, storage, virtualization, and infrastructure servicesFamiliarity with automation, configuration management, and platform observability toolsStrong engineering fundamentals including version control, automation, and operational reliabilityPreferred QualificationsExperience designing internal developer platforms or platform engineering capabilitiesFamiliarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and technical standardizationExperience implementing DevSecOps practices including automated security scanning and policy enforcementKnowledge of zero trust networking, identity-aware infrastructure, and secure platform architecturesExperience supporting regulated or security-sensitive environmentsExperience with infrastructure monitoring, logging, and observability platformsFamiliarity with endpoint management and collaboration platformsExperience working in cloud-native and hybrid enterprise environmentsWhat Success Looks LikeEngineering teams can provision environments and deploy applications quickly using standardized platformsInfrastructure is automated, reproducible, and managed through codePlatforms provide secure, reliable, and scalable foundations for mission applicationsEnterprise technical standards are consistently implemented across environmentsInfrastructure operations are highly automated and operationally efficientPlatform capabilities improve developer productivity and delivery velocityWhy This Role MattersModern organizations depend on platforms that enable engineering teams to move quickly without sacrificing security or reliability.
