This role includes scheduled clinical visits and on-call respiratory support for urgent resident needs.The ideal candidate has strong experience with ventilator management, tracheostomy care, respiratory equipment troubleshooting, and staff education. This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe, high-quality respiratory care for medically complex residents.Reports To: Charge NurseKey ResponsibilitiesRespiratory & Clinical CareProvide ventilator management, monitoring, and education for residents and care staffPerform tracheostomy care and trach changes as clinically indicatedAdminister nebulizer treatments and monitor treatment effectivenessPerform airway suctioning (oral, nasal, and tracheal)Provide airway clearance therapy, including vest therapy and related treatmentsAssess respiratory status and respond appropriately to changes in conditionEnsure respiratory care plans and ventilator settings align with physician ordersEquipment Management & TroubleshootingMonitor, maintain, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment including:Mechanical ventilatorsOxygen concentratorsPulse oximetersNebulizer machinesAir compressorsCoordinate repairs and replacements with DME providers as neededEnsure equipment cleanliness, maintenance, and regulatory complianceConduct routine equipment audits and documentation reviewsOn-Call SupportParticipate in an on-call rotation for evenings, weekends, and holidaysRespond promptly to urgent respiratory concerns including:Ventilator alarmsOxygen-related issuesEquipment malfunctionsAcute respiratory distressProvide clinical guidance remotely and on-site when necessaryEducation & Staff TrainingEducate nursing and direct care staff on:Ventilator managementTracheostomy careSuctioning techniquesEmergency respiratory proceduresConduct competency validations and in-service trainingsReinforce infection control and airway safety best practicesDocumentation & ComplianceMaintain timely and accurate clinical documentationEnsure compliance with physician orders, agency policies, and state regulationsParticipate in interdisciplinary care planning meetingsMaintain active licensure and NBRC credentialing throughout employmentQualificationsRequiredCurrent state licensure as a:Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), orCertified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)Active and verifiable NBRC credentialsCurrent BLS certificationExperience caring for ventilator-dependent and tracheostomy patientsStrong clinical judgment and independent decision-making skillsPreferredACLS and/or PALS certificationExperience in:Long-term careHome healthResidential/group home environmentsExperience working specifically with ventilator-dependent tracheostomy patientsSkills & CompetenciesStrong critical thinking and respiratory assessment skillsCalm and confident response during emergenciesExcellent communication and teaching abilitiesAbility to work independently across multiple locationsStrong organizational and time-management skillsWork EnvironmentTravel between residential group home locations requiredOn-call availability for scheduled evenings, weekends, and holidaysExposure to emergency medical situationsAbility to respond professionally and efficiently to urgent respiratory needsMake an Impact With UsIf you are a compassionate and clinically skilled Respiratory Therapist looking for meaningful work in a supportive, mission-focused environment, we encourage you to apply and become part of the Agape's Way family.
