If you've spent years mastering setups, tooling, tolerances, and machine efficiencyand want to join a high-performance team where your skill mattersthis is your opportunity.Be the Difference on the Production FloorAs a CNC Setup Machinist, you'll be responsible for setting up and operating a wide variety of advanced 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling centers and manufacturing cells in a fast-paced environment. You'll work closely with operators, programmers, leads, and production management to ensure setups are accurate, machines run efficiently, and quality standards are consistently met.What This Job Actually Looks LikeYou set up a Hermle or Mikron for a critical production run and ensure first article successYou troubleshoot tooling or program issues to keep machines producing quality partsYou verify dimensions, offsets, and tolerances before production beginsYou train operators on the setup and hand off a stable processYou make minor edits at the machine to improve efficiency and performanceYou help the team hit delivery schedules without sacrificing qualityWhat You'll Do HereSet up and operate CNC machines including Hermle, Mikron, HAAS, Doosan, and GrobPerform setups on advanced 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling centersUtilize Fanuc controls and make minor program edits at the machineUse probes and tool setters to accurately measure toolingInterpret blueprints, specifications, setup sheets, and production documentsVerify parts meet tolerance and quality requirementsDocument setups and communicate process details to team membersTrain operators on proper setup procedures and production expectationsMaintain accurate job records in Epicor ERPCoordinate priorities to meet production schedulesTroubleshoot tooling, machine, and setup issues quicklyMaintain a safe, clean, and organized work environmentSupport continuous improvement and efficiency effortsYou Must Have5+ years of CNC setup machinist experienceStrong experience setting up multi-axis CNC milling machinesAbility to read blueprints and understand tolerancesExperience with probes, tool setters, offsets, and tooling measurementAbility to make minor machine-side program editsStrong understanding of G & M codesProven ability to troubleshoot setups and machining issuesWhat You'll BringStrong attention to detailExcellent math and measurement skillsSense of urgency and pride in quality workReliable attendance and punctualitySelf-motivated attitude with minimal supervisionAbility to communicate effectively across teamsDesire to contribute to a high-performance manufacturing cultureWhy You'll Love Working With UsAt 5th Axis, your experience matters.
