Job OpportunityWe are growing and looking for an Ophthalmic Assistant to join our team!You AreReady to live out our core values in patient and team member interactionsCommitted to providing an excellent patient experienceHighly organized and able to anticipate patient needsAble to bring a positive attitude every dayA clear communicator, able to multitask, and team orientedYou Will Make An Impact ByPerforming patient workups and preliminary tests, including visual acuity, patient history, lensometry, and other tests in accordance with protocol.Performing various diagnostic tests as directed, but not limited to, keratometry, topography, tonometry, pachymetry, and visual fields as indicated.Verifying insurance coverage prior to patient arrival for evaluation and determining whether the clinic or surgery center is in- or out-of-network for patients.Triaging patient phone calls by answering questions and resolving concerns as directed to achieve patient satisfaction.Sending prescriptions to patients’ pharmacies as requested by the doctor, and handling prior authorization requests as needed. Ensuring thorough patient education and counseling about refractive, laser, and surgical procedures.Scheduling refractive, laser, and surgical procedures for patients; oversees maintenance and distribution of schedules.Educating patients on financial responsibility, answering questions on financial documents, and ensuring patients sign any necessary consent forms.Assisting physician in documentation of the patient’s visit into the electronic health record (EHR) during appointments. Maintaining patient flow by knowing the physician’s schedule and anticipating needs. Communicating with the leader and/or surgeon regarding potential patient concerns.You HaveA high school diploma or equivalentPrevious experience and/or training with completion of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) home study preferred.
