Graduate Assistant - Global Engagement
Job Summary: The Global Engagement Graduate Assistant will assist in the administrative tasks of the Office of Global Engagement. The Graduate Assistant will also have the opportunity to develop their professional skills by assisting the staff with advising student groups, managing events and overseeing specific projects. It is expected that the Graduate Assistant will work collaboratively with the Global Engagement team to promote the university's mission through advising, activities, events and leadership opportunities.Essential Functions:1. Work 20 hours per week for Global Engagement, may include evening and weekend hours3. Assist in conducting study abroad in take meetings4. Assist in planning and participating in International Student Orientation, International Student Ambassador Training, International Education Week, Study Abroad Info Sessions5. Assist the Global Engagement team with preparation, as well as implementation, of events and programs6. Co-advise International Student Organization (ISO) with the Director of Global Engagement including attendance of general and executive board meetings as needed7. Assist in administration of weekend day trips including booking trips, purchasing tickets, arranging transportation, as well as tracking participants, payments and refunds8. Serve as an administrator on the PAX student engagement portal for Global Engagement9. Assist with tabling events and services specific to international and study abroad students10. Participate in various institutional events as a Global Engagement representative such as Admission events: Packapalooza, Junior Preview Day, Accepted Students Day. Student Affairs events: Involvement Fair, Connection Days and Commencement11. Participate in office meetings and trainings12. Other duties assigned by the Director of Global EngagementQualifications/Education:1. Commitment to the mission statement, core values and goals of Alvernia University.2. Bachelor's degree and current enrollment in an Alvernia graduate program with good academic standing.3. Proven PC skills, including Microsoft Office, Teams and Canva. Adobe Creative Suite experience a plus.4. Strong interpersonal skills5. Excellent oral and written communication skills6. Think creatively and innovatively7. Prioritize work, manage time, and multitask appropriately8. Function autonomously and as a member of a team9. Study abroad experience is advantageous, but not required.Physical Requirements:1.
