Automotive Electrical Technician/Instructor (Part-Time / On Call)
Automotive Instructor/ Technician - Part-Time / On-Call Contingent - Warren, MI (including surrounding areas)* This role is Part-Time / On-Call with no guarantee of hours and is not eligible for Benefits.V2X Professional Services is looking for skilled Automotive Electrical Technicians for a part-time/on-call role. This position is responsible for diagnosing and repairing automotive electrical wiring to OEM standards, diagnosing problems with all vehicle electrical systems, repairing damaged electrical parts, and maintaining electrical repair equipment for an automotive manufacturer. The team is also expected to mentor/coach new repair personnel through these types of repairs, processes & standards.Roles and responsibilities include:Provide weekday and some weekend on-site vehicle repair or repair person mentoring/coaching at an OEM vehicle assembly facility: shift hours could be 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift (team has a schedule rotation, schedule to change based on assigned rotation)Diagnose electrical issues and execute a course of actionProvide on-site leadership with estimated time for repairsRepair and/or replace faulty wiring, connectors, or electrical systemsInstall new vehicle wiring systems per OEM standardsRepair and troubleshoot immobilizer and alarm systemsService of electrical automotive partsService and repair electrical systems on new OEM vehiclesMaintain a clean working environmentComplete job reports and processing paperworkInstruct and guide other repair personnel to improve their understanding of vehicle electrical systems and subsystemsPresent and demonstrate efficient and effective methods of diagnosing and correcting vehicle electrical systems and sub-system deficienciesConduct root cause analysis to accurately identify the cause(s) of vehicle deficienciesAct as a Subject Matter Expert for other repair personnel by providing interpretation of vehicle electrical system architectures and schematicsCommunicate and share lessons learned with site leadership and other repair personnel on a timely basisTravel occasionally required (as needed) to work sites in other statesRequired Skills:Minimum of 5 years' experience as an electrical repair technicianAdvanced knowledge of modern vehicular electrical systemsAbility to work in confined vehicle spacesComplex problem-solving skillsGood communication skillsAbility to work standing or in a crouched position for long periodsAbility to distinguish subtle color variationsDemonstrated knowledge of automotive systems from an advanced diagnostics perspectiveAbility to read and interpret a digital multimeter, OEM diagnostic scan tool and other automotive related diagnostic test equipmentAbility to effectively conduct one-on-one and small group discussionsAbility to interpret early engineering level electrical schematic diagramsAbility to work independently without supervisionValid Driver's LicenseMinimum of 5 years' experience as an electrical repair technicianDesired Skills:ASE certificationsExperience as a shop foreman or lead technicianAutomotive electrical schematic development experienceAutomotive Technical Assistance Center ExperienceRequired Education:* Associates Degree or Certificate in Automotive Technology, engineering or other related discipline.
