Product Engineer

Job Summary:The Product Engineer I is responsible for the design, development and application of nozzles and other fluid management system components for customer programs as delegated by the Lead Product Engineer or Product Management Leadership.Job Responsibilities:Managing projects from initial design concept through project launch and production ensuring project objectives are met. Supporting business development with Sales by working directly with customer engineering and internal / external manufacturing teams to develop and specify the product. Completing and releasing product designs (models and drawings) into internal and customer CAD systems that meet customer requirements and internal best practices. Develop and execute unique/custom test fixtures (design and fabrication), test plans and reports to validate design choices.Design, develop, and launch new components and finished goods for broader use across applications.Develop and reduce-to-practice material and design specifications Becoming a subject matter expert to provide exceptional customer support and robust designs. Providing customer support for technical challenges related to product and manufacturing. Managing multiple projects simultaneously, communicating project and task status to management and critical project stakeholders, and escalating concerns when appropriate. Maintaining accurate product development records, including creating and supporting APQP documentation. Working with the project team to develop and update the PDP/PPAP documentation per customer requirements.Practicing effective team skills by sharing learned knowledge with the group. Staying abreast of relevant new technology and competitive product. Developing a working knowledge of thermoplastics and their applications in product lines. Skills and Competencies:Demonstrated ability to reduce-to-practice designs from concept or brainstorms.Proven experience with fluid dynamic principles.Working knowledge of manufacturing technology like precision injection molding and high­speed assembly.Strong awareness of measurement techniques and part inspection methods in a lab environment.Design of experimental methods, tools and laboratory fixtures.Work with internal and customer engineering teams in a professional manner. Delivering comprehensive engineering reports with little oversight. Software experience: Creo/Pro-E desired but must have functional proficiency in CAD.Strong command of MS Excel data analysis and reporting. Test and simulation software a plus.Diverse fabrication hobbies such as fine woodworking (not construction), auto mechanics (gearhead), puzzle or model builder, tinker etc.Job Qualifications:BS in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering or equivalent 2-5 years of experience in product design and a working knowledge of solid modelling Physical Requirements:Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching and climbing stairs for long periods of timeSpeak clearly, oral communication and hearing conversationMinimal laboratory work, testing, light fabrication.
