Harborview Medical Center’s Behavioral Health department has an outstanding opportunity for a Mental Health Practitioner, Addictions Program. WORK SCHEDULE40 hours per weekDay ShiftPOSITION HIGHLIGHTSPlay a vital role in supporting individuals through screening, assessment, and treatment planning.This position combines direct counseling with care coordination, education, and collaboration across interdisciplinary teams.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESConduct substance use screening and ongoing assessmentsDevelop treatment plans and strategies for achieving desired outcomesCoordinate treatment and referral servicesProvide individual, group, and family counselingDeliver education and consultation to healthcare staff on substance use issuesFacilitate Integrated Brief Interventions (assessment, feedback, referrals, follow-up)Maintain knowledge of community referral resources, especially for low-income patientsParticipate in interdisciplinary team meetings and program evaluationsMaintain accurate clinical and billing recordsEnsure compliance with diagnostic and placement criteriaREQUIREMENTSA Master’s Degree in behavioral sciences, such as psychology, psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy, vocational or educational counseling, or social work OR Bachelor’s Degree in nursing or a behavioral science AND three years’ of experience in the direct delivery of professional mental health care.Must have a valid/active Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) credential with WA State.Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.DESIREDExperience in the direct delivery of professional alcohol and drug therapy; or related field to include training in alcoholism and drug counseling/therapy.Department of Health certification as a Chemical Dependency Professional or Registered Counselor in a Chemical Dependency Trainee status.ABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTERAs the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
