Audit Manager

Audit ManagerWe are currently recruiting for a full-time Audit Manager within our Audit & Assurance department. This role offers the opportunity to lead engagements, mentor team members, and work closely with clients across a wide variety of industries including business, construction, governmental, school districts, nonprofit organizations, and employee benefit plans. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys leadership, client relationship management, problem-solving, and continuing to grow their technical accounting and auditing expertise in a collaborative public accounting environment. As an Audit Manager, you will play a key role in developing staff, strengthening client relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and contributing to the continued success of the firm.Status: Full-TimeFLSA: ExemptBasic Responsibilities (including but not limited to):Heavy involvement in audit and attestation engagementsPlan, supervise, and complete audit, review, and compilation engagementsWork directly with clients to gather information, provide guidance, and maintain strong relationshipsPrepare, review, and organize workpapers and supporting documentationParticipate in special projects and consulting engagements as assignedCollaborate with team members across multiple engagement types and industriesRecognize opportunities to provide additional services to existing clientsAssist with firm administrative functions and strategic initiatives as assigned by partnersDevelop new client contacts and relationships beneficial to the firmLeadership Expectations:Supervise, mentor, and develop supervisors, seniors, and staff accountantsProvide ongoing feedback, coaching, and performance development supportAssist in training and developing technical skills of team membersServe as a resource and subject matter expert within assigned areasContribute to maintaining a collaborative and positive team environmentAudit Expectations:Continue developing a strong command of GAAP, OCBOA, and specialized accounting principlesDevelop expertise in financial statement presentation and reporting requirementsMaintain and strengthen knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and audit proceduresEnsure engagements are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with professional standardsQualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting requiredActive CPA License requiredDesired Experience:6–8 years of public accounting experience preferredPrior experience supervising engagements and leading teams requiredExperience working with business, construction, governmental (including schools), nonprofit, and employee benefit plan clients preferredStrong Microsoft Excel skills preferredDesired Skills:Strong planning, organizational, and project management abilitiesAbility to effectively manage multiple engagements and deadlinesExcellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skillsAbility to effectively gain the confidence, respect, and cooperation of clients and team membersAbility to respond innovatively and constructively to client needsAbility to recognize networking, advisory, and practice development opportunitiesSelf-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaborativelyStrong attention to detail and commitment to delivering exceptional client serviceBenefits:401(k)Dental InsuranceDisability InsuranceFlexible Spending AccountHealth InsuranceLife InsurancePaid Time OffPaid Parental LeaveProfessional Development AssistanceVision InsuranceSchedule:Monday – FridaySupplemental Pay:Bonus pay available for hours worked beyond 2080 annuallyLicense/Certification:Active CPA License requiredDriver's License preferredBrickley DeLong is a full-service public accounting and business consulting firm serving your West Michigan accounting needs with offices in Grand Haven, Grand Rapids, Hart, and Muskegon.
